I did try to research it in the net (so as not to burden this forum) some were saying corel vs sometimes have problems with mp4 format? TBH, I didn't fully understand their explanation, but now lata and the rest in this forum have helped out and I'm grateful for the assistance! I also had my gopro hero as backup during recording, and never encountered this importing problem "file format mismatch" before.just throwing it out there.Video Studio: many years ago, I used this. Lastly, as I mentioned in my previous post i used an app called scorecam, the settings remain the same so i was baffled why 60+ videos are fine and some are not and can't be imported.

I'm a novice in video editing and didn't expect a simple importing problem to occur.Īs to your remark about being asked for properties and taking a snapshot, again I'm a novice, perhaps in the future if you could please post a reply sooner and guide me how to do it then i promise you I'll get that info out. the problem was I've never encountered this issue in almost 2 yrs using this vsx9, and don't know much about how to fix it. Thanks for the education! good to know about light, fps etc. Learn how to take a snapshot of the clip properties panel and attach it to any query.ĭavidk wrote:Altho you seem to have fixed the problem, there are some pointers in the discussion which you should consider: This sort of query is the most common one I've seen. That would have exposed any frame rate issue. you were asked for a properties set for the clip or clips, but didn't provide it. That sort of variation causes VS grief, and the normal recommended fix is to run the video clip thru handbrake or similar to restore the frame rate so VS can manage it. Examples often pop up with numbers in the range of 16-22fps. To get enough light to make a good image, the phone automatically extends the exposure time, and thus the frame rate in the result differs from/slows down compared to the norm of 25fps. there's lot's of discussion about video from smartphones in general, but a frequent problem child from these devices is a variable frame rate, which usually occurs when the light level is low during recording. VLC is a media player that apparently can convert video, again free, i have not used to convert video, but it does appear to play most things we throw at itĬan't Thank you enough for the links! downloaded it and it worked, you saved me (actually) $60+ & tongue lashing from d wife (lmao), and able to fix 14 videos (Initially I thought 12).THANKS Berry thank you too for d reply!Īltho you seem to have fixed the problem, there are some pointers in the discussion which you should consider: Just searched the internet and it does seem that Wondershare has started using a similar program, HmmmmĪs I say read the small print when running the installer and deselect the extra options, Format Factory should work ok. Many forum users use Format Factory, seems to work pretty well. Take care to deselect the options when installing

There are several free video converter software out there, most try to install additional bits and pieces. Anyway, could you direct me to a trusted free format factory video converter that's free of virus/malware? Just came up all of a sudden with this file format error message. What's annoying is this has never happened in the past.

Thanks, lata! I rolled the dice and downloaded the link it's wondershare- it worked converted the mp4 to mp4 (gosh if that makes sense) but it's a free trial only and cost $50! These videos are volleyball games for my daughter, I have about 60+ videos this past season that I need to edit to make a highlight video and there's about 12 videos that I couldn't import into my project. If you can upload a video sample to a sharing site Google Drive etc, we can test the video for you. There is a free program called Media Info that reads the video providing details, that may be useful.Īs for the link to “Softwarert”, I have never used so cannot comment or recommend either wayĭo you have the Quicktime Codec installed on your PC, some Mpeg4 and Mov files may need that codec.

You say you capture the video, where from? Hopefully you mean importing from a camera? You have not given much details regarding your video file. You should take care when installing any free software as they tend to install other unwanted bits and pieces. Many on this forum use a program called Format Factory, a free video converter If that is the case the best way would be to convert the video file to a more editable format. Some Video Studio copes with and others not so easy There are many types of Mpeg4 video files using a variety of attributes.
